Digital heat decals, also known as digital heat labels or digital heat transfers, are a combination of film, printed image and adhesive, creating a product for the decoration of retail and promotional items. These three elements create a final product which is used in commercial retail product decoration. PreparationThe heat transfer process starts with the digital printing of high resolution images onto our proprietary film. After the film passes through the press it is treated by a special adhesive, then slit and wound onto appropriately sized rolls. The printed decals are then carefully handled and shipped to our customers who will apply them to their products using their own heat transfer machines and equipment.
ApplicationDuring the heat transfer process the decals are positioned according to the shape of the clients' product. The decals are then unwound by a transfer-head and pulled towards a heated surface while a electronically-controlled “eye” keeps the image in registration. Finally, a heated silicone roller or plate either rolls or presses onto the article's flat, cylindrical or tapered surface, releasing only the image from the film. Optimized temperature, dwell time, and contact pressure settings are adjusted during the heat transfer process. The subsequent blank film is rewound onto an empty roll after is is transferred, completing the heat transfer process.

AdvantagesThe digitally printed heat transfer decals are produced by a 1,200 dpi, five-color process (CMYK plus White) The addition of this fifth, white backing layer allows for printed materials to be applied on exceptionally light or dark surfaces while maintaining optimal vibrancy. In regards to print size and quality, we can print ultra-fine images and text as well as any image up to 310mm wide by unlimited length. Versatile printing options such as variable data give our clients the option for unique personalization and serialization opportunities. The decoration of certain articles allows for pre-laquering and post-varnishing. Our digital heat transfer decals are receptive to hot-stamping and will adhere equally well to preprinted or coated surfaces.
We have an effective range of adhesive technologies engineered to work best with it's corresponding material. This gives us a wide range of adhesion options for our decals, giving them the ability to adhere to almost any material. Currently, our process is in use for the decoration of tubes, health and beauty packaging, pens, pencils, bags, boxes, ad specialty items and many more. |
